About the Starter Pack Service

Bromley Homeless Starter Pack scheme assists vulnerable people placed into new homes by our partners, including the Council. Through our scheme, we collect new or good quality second-hand household goods and distribute them to households who would otherwise struggle to afford them.

Our starter packs service provides a range of items, from bedding and towels to cleaning products and plates, to single adults and families, to support them in their first few weeks and months in their new home.

In recent years we have seen a huge increase in the number of people we have helped. Currently, over 50 people a year start afresh with our ‘Starter Packs’.

Collecting Starter Pack Donations

Could you act as a coordinator to collect specific items for starter packs within your business, church, community group or other network?

Bromley Homeless need a regular supply of donated items and are building a network to help support with donations of certain items every 3-4 months. If you are a business, church, youth group, organisation or individual, please email us at info@bromleyhomeless.org to find out more details.

Starter Pack Volunteers

We have several volunteer roles to support us running the starter pack service.

Donation Co-ordinator Volunteers

Volunteers help on the first Saturday of each month to check and sort donations, then make up the different sub-packs that go into a starter pack. You are invited to join the group, which meets monthly.

Starter Pack Distribution Volunteers

Distribution volunteers coordinate requests for packs and prepare the packs to go out. They liaise with the referrer to ensure packs are collected.

Currently, volunteers are needed on Fridays between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, but this is flexible and volunteering on other days can be arranged.

Raffle prizes

Each year, Bromley Homeless hosts fundraising events featuring exciting prize raffles. If you have any brand-new, unused items—especially those still with their original labels or packaging—we would love to put them to use for a worthy cause!

How You Can Help:

  • What we need – New items suitable for raffle prizes (gifts in excellent condition; unused items with or without tags, etc.), event tickets (football matches or theatre), an evening with a special guest, a free massage or hair treatment. The list is endless, contact us to check suitability of an item or if you need any information.
  • Where to bring them – Please arrange to drop off your donations directly to Bromley Homeless.

For more information or to arrange a drop-off, please email us at: info@bromleyhomeless.org

Your generosity directly supports our mission to help those in need within our community.

Thank you for your continued support.

Clothing Donations

We are not currently accepting donations of clothes. Clothing donations will recommence in the winter months. Thank you for understanding.

Financial gifts

Your financial assistance and generosity helps Bromley Homeless deliver vital services to vulnerable people experiencing homelessness across the borough. Thank you for your continued support. Together, we are providing not just immediate relief, but a pathway toward permanent stability.
