Reflections on 2021

What Bromley Homeless has been doing to help homeless people in 2021 – with your support

Dear Friends, every year our supporters have generously helped us to support rough sleepers or those caught up in precarious housing situations. Emergency Accommodation, Advice, Support – and Clinic

Last Winter season we were able to support 32 people into emergency accommodation, provide an advice service, housing and tenancy sustainment support. Evening meals were provided by our wonderful band of volunteers.

The Multi-Disciplinary Clinic offering GP services, vaccinations and holistic care ran for the 2nd year. We achieved: 30 GP clinic appointments, 15 Oxleas appointments & 58 vaccinations. We are thankful for the support of Bromley GP Alliance, Oxleas and CGL Bromley.

This season we are providing emergency accommodation as well as hot meal provision every evening. Our advice service and Multi-Disciplinary Clinic operate from the United Reformed Church by appointment only to abide by current guidelines.

Homelessness Discussion Groups

The Homeless support and discussion group ran over a 12 week period and was attended by 8 clients. The role of the group was to provide a safe space to share experiences whilst focussing on a specific theme each week, such as managing stress, confidence, and communication.

Clients who attended left the group with new skills and knowledge. They also benefited from the peer contact, building relationships and learning from others in similar situations.

The hope is to continue these groups in the new year.

Our thanks go to…

Thanks must go to our trained volunteers who man our reception desk, operate our day room where they provide vital contact with our guests, offer a hot drink, provide essential food parcels, clean clothes and toiletries.

I would also like to thank you for your prayers, messages of support and encouragement, and for sharing news of our work through what has been another extraordinary year.

On behalf of all the staff and trustees, I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and good health in 2022.
