Nigel’s Story

Nigel* came to Bromley Homeless after fleeing a modern-day slavery situation. His employer had been providing accommodation but refused to pay him for his work. When Nigel asked for payment, he was threatened and forced to leave.

With nowhere else to go, Nigel sought help from our service. We were able to place him in our night shelter immediately, giving him safety and stability during an extremely vulnerable time.

Nigel was already being supported by the Modern Slavery team at HESTIA, and we worked alongside them to ensure he received the specialist help he needed. Through this partnership, Nigel was found stable accommodation and has now moved on from the shelter into a safe place where he can rebuild his life.

Nigel’s story highlights the importance of recognising exploitation and working together to protect and support survivors.
