On the 2nd of November, we hosted another successful Sleep Out at the Bromley Parish Church and was well attended by over 60 people. There was great music and Tamasha restaurantΒ Indian Fine Dining | Tamasha Hotel & Restaurant | BromleyΒ donated an excellent curry.Β
Talks from the Mayor of Bromley, from a young person who had used the Bromley Homeless Service, and a Volunteer were highlights.
For those wishing to attend, there was a short service in the church, after which 15 people ventured outside into the night.Β Everyone appreciated the better weather compared to last year, (it couldn’t have been worse than last year) and we all found our space to sleep, to try to sleep, to think or to listen … probably a mixture of all 4.
The morning light was welcomed by all as was the post sleep chat, fuelled by a bacon roll and cup of tea.
Some people have questioned why do we do this in winter. It’s about the challenge and facing the challenge – a challenge that many people have no choice about.
