Sleep Out
Bromley Homeless has been holding an annual Sleep Out event for over ten years now. Each Winter, we come together and raise money for those who are facing homelessness during the harshest months of the year.
Sleep Out 2024 was a success!
On 2 November 2024, we hosted another successful Sleep Out at Bromley Parish Church which was well attended by over 60 people. There was great music and Tamasha restaurant in Bromley donated an excellent curry.
Talks from the Mayor of Bromley, from a young person who had used the Bromley Homeless Service, and a Volunteer were highlights.
For those wishing to attend, there was a short service in the church, after which 15 people ventured outside into the night. Everyone appreciated the better weather compared to last year (it couldn’t have been worse than last year) and we all found our space to sleep, to try to sleep, to think or to listen … probably a mixture of all 4.
The morning light was welcomed by all, as was the post sleep chat, fuelled by a bacon roll and cup of tea.
Some people have questioned why we do this in winter. It’s about the challenge and facing the challenge – a challenge that many people have no choice about.
By raising money to support the service, Bromley Homeless can continue to support homeless people in Bromley, to help them through such difficult times and access a safe place for them for their future.
This year we raised over £10,000 from the sponsorship, the meal and the raffle. This will go towards providing a much needed service to society and homeless people in Bromley.
